Stuttering Acoustic Analysis Exercise
- Use the WASP program to analyze the following sound files
- Files stut1a and stut1b contain samples from a seven year old boy from England.
- File stut1a transcript: "At Christmas, I went to Disneyland Paris for two days and two nights."
- Count the number of disfluencies and describe the types you noticed
- Describe the acoustic appearance of the disfluency on "Disneyland"
- File stut1b transcript: "We were very happy that we only brought one present"
- Count the number of disfluencies and describe the types you noticed
- Describe the acoustic appearance of the disfluencies on "we" and "happy"
- File stut2 contains a sample from a 38 year old English man
- File stut2 transcript: "She hasn't really worked much after being married. She has worked as a school meals assistant but mostly hasn't worked outside the home"
- Describe the acoustic appearance of the disfluencies on both instances of "she," on "but mostly" and "home"
