The class met 2 1/2 hours a night, one night a week, from January to March, 2004 to build the foundation of understanding Mexico: its history, culture, government, geography, management, and tourism industry. Then, from there, to consider the economic, cultural, and ecological impacts of Escalera Nautica. A nurse from the International Travel Clinic at UNM provided information to allow the group to travel safely and healthy in Mexico including: US State Department travel advisories, US Center for Disease Control information. She discussed eating and drinking , dehydration, recommended skin care, importance of rest. UNM Office of International Programs (OIP) provided information to further safeguard the trip and enrich the learning experience including: proper travel and health documents, international medical insurance. In the picture on the right, two students, Sara Sanasac and Jesse Herron are presenting their semester long research project from , “Strategy for Marketing Weddings and Honeymoons at the Paradiso Resort.” Jennifer Richardson presented her marketing plan that she and two other Tourism Management students developed last semester.
