The Fault in Our Stars

OFFICIAL TRAILER

In John Green's novel, "The Fault in Our Stars," Hazel Lancaster, a sixteen-year-old with thyroid cancer, attends a support group where she meets Augustus Waters, a cancer survivor with a prosthetic leg. Augustus is in remission and seems to have hope and optimism. They develop a romantic relationship while seeking answers to existential questions. Hazel dreams of asking Peter Van Houten, her favorite author, to reveal the ending of his book, which is unresolved. Gus shares Hazel's interest in how the story ends and emails the author. They travel to Europe to meet Van Houten only to discover he is callous and unwilling to answer any of Hazel's questions. Tragically, Augustus's cancer returns while in Europe, leading to his death, which deeply affects Hazel. He dies shortly after returning home, leaving Hazel heartbroken. Eventually, Hazel comes to terms with Augustus's death. She finds closure at Gus's funeral when she speaks to Peter Van Houten and he reveals his daughter died of cancer. The story concludes with Hazel reflecting on her choices, feeling content with them.
