David Huntoon Greetings Corvairites. I would like to announce that we have some new members. Anthony Berbig & Linda Soukup of Minnesota. I hear they are tired of the long winters and plan to put down roots in our area, Edgewood. He lists a big bore '67 coupe and membership in Studebaker and Hudson clubs. Hope their move goes smoothly and am anxious to find out more. Sounds like they will fit right in. Would like to ask them as they read this to write up a little article and a few pictures for our newsletter. Welcome Anthony and Linda! We have some decisions to make at our next meeting. We need to decide on a date and place for our Christmas dinner. Suggestions please and remember Ropers is defunct. Then we need to make a decision on a charity for our donations this year. Something different? We will pass around a signup sheet for volunteers at the car council swap meet late in September. September 21st is the state fair car show. So get those Corvairs cleaned up for a good showing. That pretty much takes care of September. October will see our last Old Route 66 cleanup for the year. It will be Oct. 4th. October membership meeting is also when we elect our officers. Some have decided to remain and others are undecided. Include me in that last category. I believe one year at a time is about right. I like the idea of rotating new people into the officer positions. New people, new ideas, etc. Think about it and put your name forward to help keep our club going strong. A couple weeks ago I went for a hike on the North Crest Trail. I do this on occasion as I live close enough to be there in 20 minutes. After our recent rains it was an impressive sight. More wildflowers than I have ever seen. Pinks, yellows, purples, whites. The grasses were lush green and all kinds of mosses and lichens. Cool with a soothing breeze among the trees. I am fortunate to live in the mountains and not an urban area. Don't know how you guys in town do it. Here the night skies are clear and bright and the air is fresh. Originally from the Midwest so I know flat, mosquitoes and humidity. My vote is the mountains hands down. I am including some pictures from my hike and encourage you to visit Jim's website to view them in the newsletter PDF in color. Get those Corvairs cleaned and tuned for the state fair. See you at the next meeting. David ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GENERAL MEETING - AUGUST 6, 2014 Anne Mae Gold Note: Correct spelling of the Santa Fe Concorso from last month's minutes. OFFICER REPORTS President: The rain has arrived! Vice President: nada. Secretary: nada. Treasurer: $4,451.88 in the checking account with no real outstanding debts. COMMITTEE REPORTS Membership: nada. Car Council: All Clubs Picnic. CNM is donating 3-4 cases of water. Fire danger restrictions probably will not be an issue. Mike Stickler will be attending the picnic and will take up the water. The Car Council webpage is up and running. Robert Gold is in charge of the website - nmcarcouncil.com - go check it out. Note: it probably won't work if you type "nmcarcouncil.net" or "nmcarcouncil.org". Editor: newsletter deadline is 8/22, after the board meeting. Jim passed around a curved coin dedicated to baseball. He presented one, boxed and uncirculated from the United States Mint, to Robert Gold. Jim gave a talk about coins and the mint. He also shared an article in Car and Driver discussing speed and acceleration written by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Sunshine: Elizabeth Domzalski had surgery. Some of the Sunshine Committee went out to help last Saturday. Ruth Boydston's knees are bothering her so she did not attend tonight's meeting. Ollie Scheflow sends his best, but coming to the meeting and returning at night has become difficult. Merchandise: Vickie listed the items she has available and their prices. Old Business: Vickie has a ton of coupons for Harbour Freight -- go and spend some money and give the "freebie" item to the Sunshine Committee. She put them out for the membership to take and use. Vickie also has tickets for the All Car Clubs Picnic. The tickets are $5 to cover the day use. New Business Sunday August 10th - 10:00 AM All Clubs Picnic at Oak Flats. Saturday October 4th - 8:30 AM The final Old Route 66 cleanup for the year. Tarmo asked how everyone's car projects are going. Any one need help? Please let him know. Can we have a TUNA at Dan Thompson's place (in Edgewood) to evaluate his Greenbrier? Everyone needs to help keep Corvairs on the road. E-mail Tarmo or Dave with suggestions. CNM picnic? There is a spot out in Bernalillo, past the Tamaya Resort. There is a loop that has picnic tables out past the Jemez dam. There is no shade, but there are b-b-q pits. It has been suggested that the picnic be moved to the spring. A member would need to head it up, find a spot and organize it. The next breakfast will be at The Range in Bernalillo and then we'll go out to the J & R Museum. Be at The Range on Saturday 8/23 at 9:30am. [Date changed to 8/16.] Robert says he recommends the MVD office at 4th and Lomas. It is not crowded, the clerks are nice, the patrons are interesting to watch. John Wiker announced that he has been recalled by the Air Force for ROTC duty. He will be back in uniform full time. He will be at Volcano Vista school for 2-3 months until they get a new NCO for the ROTC program. Robert won the 50/50 raffle. He donated his winnings to the club. $14 total. Meeting adjourned at 8:10pm and after the meeting members got together at Jason's Deli. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOARD MEETING 08-20-2014 Anne Mae Gold Meeting began at 5:10pm Present: David Huntoon, Lube Lubert, Jim & Heula Pittman, Robert & Anne Mae Gold Treasurer: $4,535.55 is the current amount. Anthony Berbig is the new member who will be moving to NM by next spring. Secretary: nothing new to report. Editor: Friday 8-22 is the deadline for the newsletter. If we have a breakfast or other activity, we should plan ahead to get it in the newsletter with the correct date/time. This may help assure member participation. September is getting busy so the next breakfast needs to be planned for October. Information on the CORSA Convention has come out in a couple of newsletters, in particular, Pikes Peak's DRIPLINE and Chicago's AIRHORN. Car Council: the website is functional and being updated monthly. See Robert's article elsewhere. Next meeting is August 27th. Dave went to the Car Club picnic. There were fewer cars on display, but turnout was good. Thirteen members of CNM attended. NEW BUSINESS: State Fair Car Show: 9/21 Car Council Swap Meet: looking for volunteers to work throughout the weekend of 9/26-28. There will be a sign-up at the next membership meeting. The last Old Route 66 cleanup of the year will be October 4th at 8:30 AM. November: Potluck bingo and auction at House of Covers? November 8 is a Saturday. December: Ask the teachers in the club what group may need help.... food bank? clothing bank? school supplies? book drive? Ask membership for ideas. December: Where can we have the Christmas dinner? Roper's is no longer in business. One cause of mysterious tire leakage may be faulty valve stems. The October 1st meeting is CNM election day. This should be announced at the September meeting and nominations taken. With a son in college at UNM and a daughter tearing up Sandia High, we don't see much of them any more. However, I discovered that all along I had a cure for this situation, CNM's annual State Fair Car Show that will be held this year on Sunday, September 21. How could a mere car show and state fair be a cure for an empty nest situation? Well, just think about it... I tell the kids that we will pay for them to attend an event with lots of food and cool things to see and do. Also, they can take their own cars and park them right in the middle of the fairgrounds (they both have their very own Corvair). The result for the Gold family is a yearly family reunion. I feel that if it works for the Golds it will probably work for other CNM'ers. Just let your family know you'll be at the state fair and a good time will be had by all. Another nice feature of this event is that you won't have to travel far for all the fun. All that's left for me to say is the how and when of the event, so here goes: The 19th annual CNM State Fair Car Show will be held on Sunday, September 21. We'll meet at the former Furr's Cafeteria parking lot on the southwest corner of Central and San Pedro at around 7:00 AM on Sunday morning, for the group photo and will leave around 7:15 to enter the Fairgrounds through gate 3. This is the gate furthest to the south on San Pedro. We will be entering and parking for free. The show will take place on Heritage Ave just south of the Manuel Lujan Building. So mark September 21, 2014 on your calendars and plan to attend our show. You and your family will be glad you did. -- Robert Gold ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Special Happy Birthday Wishes to Sixteen CNM'ers Celebrating in September: Connie Adams Jamie Anderson Matt Choiniere Christian Deyermond Kelly Gold Dave Huntoon Carl Johnson Gordon Johnson Janet Johnson Josh McDuffie Connie McBreen Curtis Shimp Linda Soukup Frank Stadler Kevin Sullivan Julian Trujillo Happy Anniversary Wishes to Five CNM Couples: Kathy & Larry Blair Emma & LeRoy Rogers Kay & Tarmo Sutt Brenda & Hurley Wilvert Valarie Nye & Joel Yelich ================================================================================ * * M E M B E R I N F O R M A T I O N * W H O H A S W H A T * * ================================================================================ LeROY ROGERS 505-294-0623 has a 1960 Monza coupe. Lots of parts for most Corvairs. ================================================================================ BREAKFAST - MUSEUM TOUR - GARAGE TOUR Tarmo Sutt Several CNM members met at the Range Cafe in Bernalillo Saturday at 9:30am, for a great breakfast "Range" style, with seven people present. There was also the Albuquerque VMCCA club having their breakfast. As many of these car folks know each other, there was lots of interaction happening. Also starting at 10 am, was the sheriff's posse parade going down the street with law enforcement on horseback carrying different flags. Vintage cars and trucks carrying election banners and floats -- a traditional parade that we don't see much of any more. In attendance were Tarmo Sutt, Ken Sturm (Tarmo's guest from Santa Fe), Heula and Jim Pittman, Sally Williams and her daughter, and Dave Huntoon. Tarmo's 1965 Corsa and Sally's 1966 sedan were the two Corvairs present. After the breakfast, several of us met at the J & R Vintage Car Museum in northeast Rio Rancho, off of State road 528 behind a large new Walmart. This museum has about 60 vintage vehicles, a restoration shop and an automobile related bookstore in front. I found what was for me a new Corvair book called "Chevrolet Corvair - a Photo History" by Monty Montgomery. It was later purchased and given to me, what a great thing! I plan to read through this and pass along facts to the club's members about Corvairs we might have all forgotten about. In the museum, there are several cars that had been used in the Great American Race in the 1980s and 1990s; most cars displayed were from 1915 up into the 1950s. Near the front was a 1959 Edsel convertible. Does anyone remember a Ford Edsel dealership in New Mexico? A good question... I cannot remember one. If you are old enough to remember, where did you see your first Edsel? At a Ford dealership? I recommend a visit to the car museum for everyone to go look. Only $6 entry fee, $5 for seniors. Mark and Elizabeth Domzalski invited the club up to their house after the museum tour, to see their newly finished 1300 square-foot "car restoration garage" with a deck on the whole top of the building. Well, the garage is newly finished but is not fully furnished yet! A lot more work for Mark to do. And, the greatest view from the deck! Breathtaking, this place has all of the special Domzalski's touches built into it. Great projects and wonderful gatherings will happen here, let's all try to stay on the guest list! This was a great CNM outing. The original date for this was August 23, but it was held August 16. Thanks to all who attended! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MY PART OF THE 1975 SEATTLE SAGA, PART 1 Charley Biddle * The Chicagoland AIRHORN has been one of the most consistently * interesting newsletters we have been getting for many years under * our old "newsletter exchange" program. Few of the major CORSA chapter * newsletters are being mailed out anymore, most having moved their * distribution to the internet. I asked editor Charley Biddle if I could * reprint his article in the August issue. He agreed, and sent Part 1 * from July as well. Charley explains for those not familiar with Chicago: * "In Chicago, the Eisenhower Expressway is Interstate 290, and runs west * out of the city. I used to take it every day, going to and from the * campus of University of Illinois in Chicago. Also, I mention there * were 800 Corvairs at the convention. I have been since informed that * might have been a bit high, especially for a West Coast convention. * I'm fairly sure we did those kinds of numbers for the CORSA conventions * we hosted, especially in the 1990's. If somebody complains, give them * my e-mail address." -- CNM EDITOR It is CCE tradition to Coravan to CORSA conventions. This is where everybody caravans together in their Corvairs to an event. Such was the case with the 1975 CORSA Convention in Seattle, WA. However, in typical Charley tradition, I Coravaned with the rest of the club, except I was off by several days and about a thousand miles separate. Unlike my last Great Western Adventure, this time I had my second Corvair (of what would be many), a 1965 Monza Coupe 140 HP four speed. It was essentially a Corsa model, but without any of the Corsa trim, a Corsa dashboard or Corsa suspension or steering components. It had an AM radio, bucket seats and a heater, which doubled up as a window fogger-upper in the rain. It had BF Goodrich radial T/A tires, so it cornered like a mouse in tennis shoes. It was red and had a dent in the driver's door. My travels across the country were uneventful. No flat tires, no dropped valve seats. I did come across some good ol' boys on the highway in a jacked up pickem up truck, who thought they'ed have themselves some fun with the guy in the little car with out of state plates (me). They pulled along side me on the Interstate, and probably using a sparkplug in their exhaust system or something, made their truck backfire into my side door. They laughed and roared off. I thought it was funny, too. I used to do the same thing in my 1964 Corvair. Early models didn't have an Accessory position on the ignition switch, so I had rigged an ignition shutoff switch under my dash. That way, I could play the radio with the engine off and not risk burning up my points. It also allowed me to shut off the engine at speed. When I did so, the muffler would fill up with unburnt fuel, and when I turned the ignition back on, a big flame would erupt from the exhaust pipe with a loud bang. I did this one night on the Eisenhower Expressway to some dude. Lit up his entire car. The look on his face was priceless. So, I understood what them good ol' boys were up to. There is a difference between Interstate highways in the Midwest and Interstate highways in the Rocky mountains. Around here, Interstate highways are flat, with multiple lanes in each direction with wide grassy dividers between the sets of lanes going in opposite directions. In the Rocky mountains, they paved two-lane logging roads that wind thru mountain passes and stuck red, white and blue Interstate signs along them. Opposing traffic is just over that double yellow line. You have to trust that it stays there. I mention this, because I met up with a group of Corvairs from the Kansas City area, just before heading into the mountains. We all were going to the Seattle CORSA convention, so we decided to travel together. One of the guys had a Turbo and they all had CB radios. The problem with driving thru the mountains, even on what they called Interstate highways, was that you could not see what was around the next corner. It could be nothing, or it could be a runaway logging truck. They loaned me a CB walkie-talkie. It could not transmit very well, but it could receive. The guy in the Turbo went on ahead, and radioed back if there was any traffic coming. If not, the rest of us followed and took those mountain curves, using ALL the lanes. Kinda like an autocross, but with mountain walls and droppoffs instead of rubber pylons. We made real good time, and it was a lot of fun. Next month, the Seattle Convention and "Oklahoma Crude." Reprinted from the AIRHORN, Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts, July 2014 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MY PART OF THE 1975 SEATTLE SAGA, PART 2 Charley Biddle Last month, I related my adventures on my trip to Seattle, for the 1975 CORSA Convention. I drove my second Corvair, a red 1965 Monza 140HP, four-speed. On the trip to Seattle, nothing broke, no valve seats dropped and no belts flipped. As I recall, there were 1500 attendees, and 800 Corvairs. I participated in the Autocross, doing as well as I did in autocrosses in the Chicagoland area: terrible. But, it was fun. And, nothing broke. One of the tours was a trip up nearby Mount Rainier. This is an extinct volcano (which thankfully has stayed extinct) with roads on it. One of the features of the trip was travelling up to the snow line and having a snowball fight in the middle of the summer. On the way back from the trip, we were travelling on local dirt roads, taking the scenic route. This trip was styled as a rally, without actually being a rally. There was an actual rally at the convention, but this was just a sightseeing trip. Now, let me tell you about one of the more colorful characters who attended this convention. There was this older gentleman from Oklahoma, who had a blue late model Corvair with every option in the Warshawsky catalog that he could find, and then some. This car had aftermarket side trim. It had door edge guards, It had trim pieces where no Corvair has ever had trim pieces. He had three tail lights on each side, all of them used for turn signals. He had aftermarket driving lights mounted under the rear bumper as backup lights. He had extra sets of driving lights on the front. He had brush screens over the headlights. He had stainless trim around all edges of all of the side windows. And he bragged he had the best looking Corvair, even if you didn't ask him. Not knowing his name (or wanting to know his name), we nicknamed him, "Oklahoma Crude." On this trip back from Mount Rainier, we were on a dirt road at a stop sign intersection with a little bit bigger dirt road. I stopped for the stop sign. Suddenly, blam, I am sitting just about in the back seat of my Corvair, my hands about a foot or so from the steering wheel. The engine died. Oklahoma Crude never saw the stop sign, or me, and had driven at speed into the rear of my car. The impact ripped my seat from its tracks, which is why I suddenly found myself sitting so far back. I was in gear at impact time, and my foot was pulled back from the clutch, causing the engine to die. We got out to survey the damage. Oklahoma Crude's front bumper was bent upwards. My rear bumper was bent a little, but most of all, the rear cross frame, that has the engine mount on it, was bent in about an inch. There was a dent in my oil filter, but not much other damage. When I restarted the engine, no oil spewed out, so the damage was only cosmetic. The engine was now located a little more forward than before and the gear shifter pattern changed a little, but everything worked. However, with the driver's seat all the way against the back seat, I could not drive the car. The seat track would no longer keep the seat in position, and my arms and legs aren't that long. I managed to reposition the driver's seat by placing my Sears tool box behind it, and then I used my just fine Sears scissors jack sideways to push between the rear seat riser and the tool box. The seat was still a little bit loose, but I was able to drive. In fact, that is how I was able to drive the 2,000 miles to get home. Next month, more adventures on the way home, or why one should never try to outrun the police. Reprinted from the AIRHORN, Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts, August 2014 * Charley explains, * * "Reference to the Warshawsky catalog may be a local Chicago term. * The same organization marketed to the rest of the country as * JC Whitney. Warshawsky was their family name, and it resonated * well in Chicago (with more people of Polish descent than in any * other city in the world, except for Warsaw, Poland). However, the * name was "foreign"-sounding outside of Chicago, so they went with * JC Whitney everywhere else. For us locals, the Warshawsky catalog * had slightly better prices than the JC Whitney catalog, and we * could save on shipping by just driving to their store at * 47th and Archer (south side of Chicago). * * The Warshawsky family is no longer associated with JC Whitney. * I have not seen any Warshawsky catalogs for a while. The grandson * of the original founder passed away some number of years ago, and * his daughter was not a car person and she sold off the company to * a group of investors, who now run it. I happened to do some computer * consulting work for the original Warshawsky company, back in the * middle 1990's. The grandson, Sollie, was the old guy whose wheel * chair used up a lot of space in the elevator, and I was told not * to complain about it; he owned the business, the building, and * ultimately, my contract. His daughter came in from New York a couple * of times, one time flouncing into the computer area, declared her * laptop was not working, and expected everyone in the room to jump * to assist her. Everyone except me did; that was not within the * scope of my contract." ============================================================================ ============================================================================ | September 2014 | October 2014 | November 2014 | | Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa | Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa | Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa | | 1 2 3 4 5 6 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 | | 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 | 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 | 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 | | 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 | 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 | 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 | | 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 | 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 | 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 | | 28 29 30 | 26 27 28 29 30 31 | 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 | | | | 30 | ============================================================================ Wed 3 Sep 7:00 PM Meeting: NORTH DOMINGO BACA MULTIGENERATIONAL CENTER, at Wyoming & Carmel, north of Wyoming & Paseo del Norte NE. Several members met the Great American Race cars and drivers as they passed through. Ollie was presented with a First Aid kit. Dan Palmer showed LEDs and wiring for dash lighting. Jim said we'd be bucking the trend to email by continuing to mail out our newsletters. President Ray asked members to report their favorite grammar and spelling errors. Robert reported on an encounter at Autozone where Anne Mae was poorly treated but the regional manager in El Paso made everything okay. Sad fact of life: ladies don't often get treated fairly at auto parts stores. John Wiker reported on attending several car shows and an enjoyable Car Council picnic. Ollie Scheflow reported on the last Old Route 66 cleanup of the year and Sylvan wrote that he appreciated the "April Fool" features in our newsletters, claiming the issue from April 2007 was the best yet. Steve Goodman told us what to do with a vague stick shift and Vickie Hall illustrated the picnic with words and photos. We learned of the death of Debbie Pleau in Colorado just as she and Dennis were preparing to move back to California. Debbie's contributions to CNM and to the Pikes peak Corvair Club over a span of 17 years can hardly be exaggerated. Not least of her accomplishments was organizing the CORSA National Convention in Albuquerque in 1995-1996. We still miss her. 2000 - Vol 26 Nr 9 - # 300 On the cover, we "camp out" at Ruth's cabin in the Pecos. A cartoon has Ralph of the Green Party making a joke at the expense of two political candidates and our favorite car. Wendell reported a bank balance of $6069. We said goodbye to the Pleaus who were headed for Colorado Springs. We planned a new CNM front license plate. Mark Domzalski was re-elected president of CORSA. There would be a 75th anniversary celebration of the completion of Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles. President Hurley Wilvert told us we had four nominees for the October election. Many events were reviewed, mostly car shows of one kind or another. The Car Council's list of activities for the rest of the year took up half a page. Debbie Deck reported on the Pecos Campout at Ruth's mountain cabin. Anne Mae Gold told us about Corvair Ladies and their activities. Steve Gongora reported on the Galles Car Show in which three CNM participants each won a nice new $100 bill. A letter from Wendell told about irritating car troubles on the way to San Diego and a really scary episode with Ilva and a stroke and a heart attack. 1993 - Vol 19 Nr 9 - # 216 A Ford Model T was on the cover. Our president was Del. Will reported $1439 in the bank. Guests were Scott Kimball, Ted Yachik and the Huntoons from the Chicago club. We discussed plans for the State Fair, a campout, a Dukes baseball game, a Funkhana, the Great Western Fan Belt Toss and a trip to Color Works in Los Lunas. LeRoy told about a new organization aimed at keeping old cars from being legislated off the road. Del reported that we got the bid from CORSA for the 1996 convention! We had several tech tips from the Internet this month. Frank Lux had a hard-to-find rattle when the nut came off a front shock absorber and lodged inside the coil spring where it bounced around. Raymond Pease replaced the inner speedo cable on a 1968 car only to find it was 3/4 inch too short. Stuart Pearl reported on the brand-new GM Saturn. Steve Cole discussed modes of crank failure (torsional or bending) and how to tell which happened to your broken crank. Mike Kellstrand had a rough running engine. Cyberspace citizens suggested causes and fixes: bryan@mitre.org suggested backing off the timing and checking for jammed advance weights; kdrolt@athena.mit.edu suggested a clogged fuel screen in the gas tank or clogged carb filters; smc9782@zeus.tamu.edu suggested it might be a vacuum leak in the crossover tube connectors. Steve Robinette asked the function of a thick red wire in the engine compartment. John Dozsa told about a speedometer repair shop in Baltimore. 1986 - Vol 12 Nr 9 - # 132 On the cover: a newspaper photo of a CORSA member from France: Gali Bouhadiba at the CORSA Convention in Grand Rapids. We had $827 in the bank and a visitor was long-distance CNM member Jack Bryan of Dallas. Jerry showed us a video he made during the Montrose Tri-State. Bill Reider reported on his trip to the Grand Rapids convention. Bill said traffic everywhere was moving at 60 to 70 in spite of the 55-mph speed limit. He joined in the fun and was stopped in Kansas for doing 46 in a 30-mph zone. Karen provided three more stories in her series of reports on "My First Car" so we found out how Elliott Knapp, Kristin Romer and Dean Sanborn were introduced to a 1926 Buick, a 1965 Monza and a 1918 Model T Ford respectively. Francis told us how to remove the emergency brake cable from the wheel backing plate: tighten a small hose clamp around the three locking protrusions, then tap with a hammer and screwdriver. Francis was a great one for clever improvised tools. 1979 - Vol 5 Nr 9 - # 48 The September 1979 cover showed a Chevrolet advertisement: bikers were admiring a shiny new 1965 Monza sedan. We were planning our State Fair car show, an Aspencade and October elections. We discussed CORSA's 100 percent membership rule. This issue had no tech tips. Your editor asked whether it was a good idea for the government to require air bags in new cars in light of certain safety considerations. Today no one thinks of any inherent dangers from air bags. I wonder why. ========================================================================= Enchanted Corvairs Newsletter is published monthly by Corvairs of New Mexico, chartered Chapter #871 of CORSA, the Corvair Society of America.
