New Mexico State Department of Education
Teacher Training on Inclusive Practices (2002-2003)
New Mexico is one of the lowest ranking states in the nation with regard to providing special education services to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. This grant provides tuition to educators and technical assistance to schools in New Mexico to increase the number of students with disabilities receiving special education services in general education classroom environments. This grant is part of the statewide least restrictive environment initiative funded by the NMSDE State Improvement Grant.

Changing Hearts/Changing Minds: Assessing the impact of the Families as Faculty program at UNM
Families as Faculty is a collaborative program between Parents Reaching Out and the University of New Mexico. Through this program, education students have a field experience with a family of person with a disability as a part of their coursework special education. This small research grant is looking at the perceptions of students and families who participate in Families as Faculty to see how well the program is meeting its objectives.
