SYNOPSIS:
Gilda Barreto's (Gabriela Spanic) dreams come true when she meets
Reymundo Landaeta (Eduardo Luna), a rich and handsome young man who does
not seem to mind her humble upbringing. But Reymundo is only looking
for a way to spite his arrogant and domineering mother and he sees his
chance in Gilda, a poor young woman raised by a foster mother.
Reymundo proceeds to conquer her heart and to marry her, much to the
displeasure of his family who go out of their way to ruin the marriage.
The pressures prove to be too much and Reymundo and Gilda divorce.
Emotionally destroyed, Gilda returns to her former life of poverty,
working hard at odd jobs to earn a decent living. Reymundo eventually
realizes how much he truly loves Gilda and sets out to win her back but
he may be too late. Someone new has entered her life. Raul de
la Peña (Miguel de León) is a wealthy, prominent, criminal
lawyer who recognizes Gilda's true worth, loves her for who she is, accepts
her child from her previous marriage to Reymundo and is willing to patiently
and ever so gently win her over. The uncertainty of whether love can
prevail amid intrigues and an untold number of obstacles set the stage for
this exciting story where it's the second guy that might win the girl in
the end.
