SYNOPSIS:
Abandoned at the doorsteps of the Santa Úrsula orphanage a few
days after being born, Chabelita (Andrea Lagunes) grows up in a somber
and uncaring environment. Her short life has been even harder
because of the mistreatment she's received from the institute's strict
headmistress. In spite of all these difficult experiences,
Chabelita still maintains a cheerful and optimistic spirit that has never
been broken. For she possesses a contagious enthusiasm and an almost
magical ability to bring people together. After being told her
father lives in the Mexican capital city, Chabelita escapes from the
orphanage to look for him. And so start the tender adventures of a
wonderful little girl who, in her search for the family she so longs to
have, leaves little droplets of love with all the lonely and
emotionally-needy people she comes in contact with.
SUBPLOT: Chabelita's real parents turn out
to be María Fernanda de Santiago (Laura Flores), sole
heiress to a textile factory,
and Ulises Arredondo (Miguel de León) sole heir to a hotel chain.
Upon discovering her identity, both become embroiled in a bitter
legal battle to take sole custody of her. All of a sudden, the
family she so longed for is real and is fighting to keep her. But
now, Chabelita's only wish is to remain with Jesús García
(Álex Ibarra), a poor street vendor she adopted as her father.

Ulises meets Chabelita by chance
when his chofer narrowly misses
running over her dog.
Unaware that she's his daughter,
he instinctively feels drawn to her
and invites her to his office for a visit.
 
Ulises tries to reconcile with Maria Fernanda, Chabelita's mother.
 
When that fails, he has no qualms about taking her to court
to try
to take sole custody of their daughter.

RESUMEN:
Abandonada en la puerta de un orfelinato a los pocos diás
de nacer, Chabelita ha crecido en un ambiente sombrío y falta de
cariño. Su corta vida ha sido más dura aún a
causa del maltrato que ha recibido de la recia directora de la
institución benéfica. A pesar de las
difíciles experiencias que ha vivido Chabelita, su espíritu
alegre y optimista, nunca ha podido ser quebrantado; ella posee una
habilidad casi mágica para unir a la gente, y su entusiasmo es
contagioso. Cuando le dicen que su padre vive en la capital
mexicana, Chabelita escapa del orfanato para encontrarlo. Así
comienzan las enternecedoras aventuras de esta niña maravillosa
que, mientras busca a la familia que tanto añora, lleva "gotitas
de amor" a todas las personas solitarias y necesitadas con las que entra
en contacto.
