2012.91.104, glazed stoneware jar; Han dynasty (206 B.C.–A.D.220
Eason Eige Collection; photo by B. Bernard
The jar shown above was only partly glazed, with trickles of
glaze in places. Centuries later, the glaze is barely apparent. We've
included the jar among our brown glaze pieces given the current color of
the surviving glaze, but the potters' intent may have been to produce an
olive-green glaze. The jar is 7 inches (17 cm) tall.
