| Ideally, I want each of you to get hands on experience in these sessions. However, experience tells me that some of you may simply want to take the easy option of riding on someone else's efforts. However, this would be a bad decision, as the practical skills exams are designed to force you to know how to use the equipment and perform numerous procedures we are covering in the class this semester. The laboratory reports are my way of making sure you are learning something from the lab sessions, and more importantly, practicing your scientific writing while at the same time reinforcing key academic content within exercise and sports physiology. Nevertheless, compared to past years, I have made these reports much smaller and therefore less time consuming. This is so that you can have the time and energy to actually get into the lab and practice the lab skills I am teaching you. If I do not see you in the lab, then be prepared to get your "ass kicked"! The individual lab question sheets follow as a list of links to Microsoft Word documents.
Grading of the laboratory reports will follow a criterion referenced set of requirements, as provided in this Word template form. Print this form, complete the lab number and title and your name information, and attach it as the first (front) page of each lab report. My grading of each laboratory report will be based on this content. Thus, make sure you meet all requirements of this form with each laboratory report you submit! Follow the link above (top of page) to check on assignment status. Check on the assignment labs you have and have not handed in. If there is any discrepancy between yours and my records, see me ASAP. Note, as indicated on the criterion referenced grading form, there is a late submission penalty that accrues on a daily basis!!! Lab Assignment Write-upsYou all need to read the following pdf link on Introduction To Scientific Writing. Based on past students, almost all of you have a long way to go with developing the skill of scientific writing. Of course, obeying prior and repeated instruction will also help!!!!! Structure your lab assignment according to the following;
YOUR FINISHED ASSIGNMENT SHOULD READ LIKE A MINI-RESEARCH MANUSCRIPT THAT IN AND OF ITSELF IS SUITABLE FOR PUBLICATION! See my example for guidance.
