Eyal Aharoni is a postdoctoral research fellow with appointments at The MIND Research Network for Neurodiagnostic Discovery and the University of New Mexico Department of Psychology. Eyal earned his Ph.D. in evolutionary psychology at UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) under the guidance of Prof. Alan Fridlund, and served as a research fellow for the MacArthur Foundation's Law and Neuroscience Project directed by Prof. Michael Gazzaniga. Eyal's current research investigates aggression and moral reasoning in psychopathy as well as normative motives for punishment and retribution. Eyal has a particular interest in how evolutionary, cognitive, behavioral, and neuroscientific approaches to these topics may apply to legal issues related to violent crime and to jury decision making. Eyal earned B.A.'s in Psychology and Religious Studies from UCSB in 2000. He has held research positions at the Research Center for Virtual Environments and Behavior and the Institute for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Research, authoring and contributing to publications in the areas of human-computer social interaction and the perception of agency.
